Yes, Nick, you are right. Thats what it is used for even it is not
good for health. As you already mentioned It is not used in
concentrated form and give just touch of drop in to the betel leaf.
: Chuna is made to be edible, so it is not as harsh as the
ingredients
: would suggest. I'm not sure what it's used for, but chewing betel
leaf
: could be a possible option. And it's cheap to boot.

:
:
:
: : : : Chuna is Calcium hydroxide, I believe.... like slaked lime.
: : :
: : : Yes, and this seems to be doing something different. More
: : : investigation is needed.
: :
: : It really would be nice to know if Chuna does different things
under
: : certain conditions or when certain ingredients are in the recipe
or
: : with certain colors of stain. Of course my problem with it would
be
: : that it seems like it would be a bit more harsh on the hands than
I
: : would want.
: :
: : But Erfan certainly obtained a beautiful color that is much
lighter
: : than the deep browns and near blacks obtained from Navaid 1 or
2.
: So
: : perhaps Chuna has possibilities other than to push the stain
color
: to
: : dark or black. Perhaps, especially if the stain is already dark
or
: : black.
: :
: : Question for Erfan: Did the stain color continue to develop and
: : become different over the next few days...Or did it remain that
: color?
