In the post linked below are two books I've used for both learning
and calligraphic/artistic endeavour. The second book is the one that
will give you the best understanding of each letter/pronunciation
while the first book details the legal stretches in writing the
letter. Amazon should carry both books; I wrote a review on Ja'Far's
book.

: I never really thought of doing calligraphy in henna until Najib
did
: a fabulous piece on me at Serious Henna NYC. Now seeing Minoo's
: design and remembering the last piece Noli put up, and Nick's riff
on
: that, I want more!
: I don't read Arabic or Farsi or Sanskrit and so I have difficulty
: extracting a word from a full design. In several gorgeous pics
I've
: seen, I'm not sure what is the word, what is a decorative skewing
of
: the word, what is only design and not part of the word, and what is
: merely a crease in the hand and not actually henna at all.
: I have everything CCJ has put out with calligraphy on it, and use
and
: love it! But I want more.
: Does anyone have any suggestions on where else to look? I liked
the
: Love book Kenzi had at Serious but I think it was a European
: edition. Help?
: Thanks!
: Lauren
