Presently, I don't have the solid info I need to post on Serious
South. I don't want to put anything up that might turn into a
disappointment if I can possibly help it. Serious Chicago's a go (US
Midwest). I'll be in Liverpool in January, but that's for another
conference. Z Budapest's asked me to teach henna and rangoli at her
gig in September 2003 in Santa Cruz. If grant funding comes through,
I'll be overseas nearly all summer researching ... so .... time is tight.
What's needed? If you want me to come with the lecture series, you'd
need to find enough people willing to pay something to listen to me
that I'd break even on expenses (I don't expect to make money doing
these, but I can't afford to spend money, either). You'd need to find
a place where 10 - 15 people can henna like crazy, and you'd have to
find and work with those 10 - 15 people and organize something like a
long weekend party, get their fees, get everything sorted. That's the
basics. Attendence is never very big. The Serious Henna conferences
are often like a campout or extended pyjama party or family reunion.
We need space where people can do some designated listening and some
lying about hennaeing and goofing.
