: I wanted to bring the discussion of Sari's up here so it didn't get
: lost :D
:
: Anyhow, on the site that was posted below, it says that a sari is 5
: 1/2 meters of fabric? As in like 16+ feet long??? I imagine that
: the 'shorter' ones are for smaller people and longer ones for any
: size?

Sari sizes and manner of draping vary from region to region,
according to the research I have found.
The smallest length is 4 yrds and is used by some 'tribes', but
usually 2 of the 4 yrd sari's at a time.
5-6 yrds is the most used, and it can be draped in many different
ways. If we ever get to spend some time together, I can show you the
4 different ways that I drape my own sari's.
Then you have some tribes that use a 9yrd sari...yes 27 FEET OF
FABRIC!!! I do have one sari that is 9yrds, and I gather they are
hard to find. The 9yrd'ers have a certain way to drape them and I
cannot for the life of me figure it out!

Sounds like we really need to have a coffee date!

Btw, I am going to a Diwali performance on Saturday down in
Seattle...do you have any interest in going with? It's a 5 hour
thing in N. Seattle. Give me a call if you do.
Justine
