The dye is a coal tar/azo/ppd dye, but the green does not seem to
present the problems that the black does, particularly in the 1 1/2%
level I last saw turn up on a test. However, if a person is highly
sensitized to PPD, it could set off a reaction. In any case, it
certainly does NOT need to be in the henna. Coal tar dyes are totally
sucky ecologically/environmentally. I'd love to see them vanish from
henna.

The dye has no effect on the stain. Better grades of henna may be
getting a bigger hit of dye just to make the buyers believe it's
actually *better*, because people buy with their eyes.

I"ve looked at 2 boxes of Mumtaz, from different cities, and the dye
levels are similar. That dye absolutely jumps out at you on the
slide, there's no mistaking it!
