Not that I know an answer to this specific question...but...

Do an internet search to see what the rupee cost is in India, then
convert it to U.S. funds? It might give you a better idea...but then
again it might not. When I was chatting w/ some Punjabi men last
weekend, they said that 'you could make a lot of money in India doing
that' {we were obviously discussing the mehendi on my arms...lol}.
Anyway we got to talking about the exchange rate and such, but he
said that amount of rupees would purchase many items. So although
the rate might not seem much by U.S standards, it is good money in
rupee's.
Anyway, figuring out the exchange rate...and maybe you can price
compare everyday items in India???
Anyhow, good luck! I hope to have the same dilemma soon, so please
let me know how it goes.

: What do actual real live from-India people charge to do henna in
the
: US?
: I've gotten a couple calls from women wanting henna and they ask
what
: my prices are. I either charge $50 per hour for personal stuff or
: per-design starting at $10 plus travel expenses, whichever is
cheaper
: for them. I tell them that. One a few months ago said she knew
: someone who would do it for $20 per hour. Yikes. Yesterday the
: woman called me and asked and all she heard was $10.00. I don't
know
: what she's expecting for that but $10 is usually pretty basic. I
: told my husband about it, saying that she would be my gateway to
the
: Indian community and so I was giving her a price break, figuring
I'd
: learn a lot, too. He said Yes, but the gateway is going to set the
: prices for everyone she tells about you. Hey, look what this
stupid
: white girl did for only ten bucks!
: I'm sort of in a weird place right now with starting into the
ethnic
: community. I really want to be there, to learn and to practice
their
: sort of henna, but I don't want to get taken.
: Help?
