Darla & Erika,
I live in Archer, near Gainesville! And we used to live in St.
Petersburg (our parents still do). I'm so glad y'all are so close --
I would love to see you work at a festival or something! Could you
give me a list of what you're doing in the next few months? I am
just doing parties and community events around here (Cedar Key to
Lake City) until I can book festivals (I've only been doing this
since the spring). I am going to try to do the Homosassa Springs
Seafood Festival 11/10 and 11/11. You guys do great work and are
some of my many mentors on this forum. I hope we get to meet soon.
My friend Tina is also a budding artist and fellow ayurvedic
aromatherapy practitioner and we are "booth buddies," it's so nice
to work with someone with whom you are not competitive. We'll just
have a regular little mehndi artist community here in Florida!
I get you about "painfully cheap" but you gotta just look 'em in the
eye and never go below what you think you're worth just to get the
gig... that's not helping our cause any, we want to raise the
standard and make people understand that when they want good art
(that which evokes a spiritual response), they have to pay for it.
I'm finding that it helps me to maintain a higher-end cliente which
is where I like to stay.
