What is the benefit of using a twist tie to secure the bag opening over using a rubber band?

I would think a rubber band is more easily available and easier touse. All I do is gather and twist the plastic carrot bag at the open
end until it is tight and fold the tightly twisted plastic over.
Then I wrap a rubber band over the tightly twisted loop. I’ve never
had a problem with leaks and it is easy to take off the rubber band
to refill or tighten down a half empty bag.
