Among us henna artists tho, we have little chits on which we write the price of the design we just did; the chit gets tossed into the cash box when we put the money in. This helps us keep track of how much business we are doing, what people are paying per design, and then we can get an average per person. We like this method because when one of us wants to get an idea of how much money we have made we can count up the amount on the chits instead of flashing our cash around (we are in NYC, after all!) Then, at the end of the night one of us counts up the chits, another counts up the money and we make sure they equal out. We also use chits to note "artist X contributed $30 in change" or "$10 to make the tip jar look full" so we can pay them back at the end of the night.
