It's great how we CAN change and choose what we want, while still remaining part of a particular culture; it forces people to stop judging by names or skin color, and just by our actions. Eventually enough of us will intermarry so that race will no longer be obvious and we will all have to engage in coversation before we can make any assumptions about each other. The very first henna gig I did for an Indian family I was hired by the sister of the groom. When I was getting ready to leave she paid me and said something quietly about never wanting to hire an indian mehndi artist, sort of as an aside. I said "oh, why is that?" and she mumbled something that I didn't hear and wouldn't repeat it when I asked. I wonder to this day why that was.
