KidsPosted by Dee Dee on July 13, 2003 at 09:32:39: In reply to: not at a loss for words.....very very long "nearly topic" rant posted by Willowhawk on July 12, 2003 at 22:49:50: I have three kids, was a teachers assistant for 11 years and owned adaycare center for over 4 years. I can tell you that your 3 year old "sounds" normal to me. Children require constant stimulation and have very short attention spans, especially a 3 year old. If I had been next to you, I would have offered to assist you in watching them and occupying them while you set up. BUT, I find that all to often, in this day in age, many don't want to help others and are catty and gossipy. I am NOT going to tell you not to take him in the future because my husband and I did similar things with the kids when they were younger. We did fairs as food vendors when they were young. I believe it was good for them. My son had a job at 15. He is 16, doesn't have his drivers license, and rides his bike to work. Through the summer he is working almost full time. I truly believe he is this way because he saw us working. How many parents *SEE* their parents working, or know what they do for a living, for that matter. As I said, your 3 year old "sounds" normal. If you take him in the future, I'd have some toys and coloring books and plenty of food and drinks. Keep him occupied. As he gets older you will be able to give him little jobs to keep him occupied and make him feel included. Sorry for my tirade. Even though my kids are teenagers now, I have no patience for people who have an open hostility towards children, especially 3 year olds!
