Young kids and pre-teens need to have a parental permission. That can be really simple to determine. Is this okay with your mom and dad? You always get a yes or no answer. Kids won't push it too far with henna as they know it will be on for a week and if the parent is not cool with it they are really in for trouble. I usually ask if it's okay and ask where their adult is and look for a nodding head in the crowd. Kids are really pretty good about this. Also if they are waiving a 20 dollar billl at you, you can be pretty sure they grabbed it out of dads hand and came running. As for children. I can do henna on little girls around 21/2 - 3 years old. I talk to them and ask them to sit really still and not touch it. When it dries we usually wrap it up in medical tape for them so smears are only a factor for 10 minutes or until it dries. (of course the parent is sitting with the little girl) As for little boys I don't like doing henna for them till they are about 6 years old. They have an incredibly difficult time holding the head and feet still making henna on a rocking bobbing body really tricky. Parental permission is easy and no big deal. Just ask and look aroung for that bobbing head. If you're getting a feeling that they aren't being honest ask to see their parent and be careful to tell them you don't want their mom calling you tomorrow and yelling at you. This is rarely a problem, but, you just ask , only takes a second. Jessica : Hello, : : Having practiced mehndi for years on myself, I have recently trained : and encouraged a family member in the art of mehndi. She is a very : good artist, and I am a good artist, though I prefer to do original : designs. : : This year, having another, enthuiastic partner, we have decided to : market our art and skills and have booked space at a local fair. : Being as we are small town, nobody offers this service and that makes : me glad. I am confident we will succeed. : : I am wondering what, if anything, other mehndi artists have done with : minors, or children under the age of 18. Is there guidlines, : restrictions, or things I ought to do before I offer this service to : the younger generation? I live in Small Town Wisconsin, in the event : that it matters. : : Your help is greatly appreciated. : : BE WELL. : : JoAnn
