I believe Anne refers to it as McMehndi and I call it "tattoo flash
for cash". It's not an artform and degrades the traditional and
cultural beauty of mehendi...in my stubborn opinion.

I would write them back and politely (or maybe not-so-politely)
explain this art to them. Maybe they are of the opinion that it's
not art because it's temporary.
There's so many area's to touch on...henna in Indian/Persian
artwork; artistic ability to create a design; knowledge of
tradition/culture; knowledge of mixing paste/applying paste/etc;
uses on cloth/wood...and on and on.

I ended up on a waiting list for a big art fair this year...only
because there is another mehendi artist there.
