same problem out here!Posted by Jessica on August 6, 2003 at 18:29:49: In reply to: Please tell me I'm not crazy... posted by Erika on August 6, 2003 at 16:16:36: At last weekends event I had a similiar proposal. An Indian woman keptcoming over, and over, and over. Different things each time, once to see prices, once to watch, once to criticize, once to 'borrow' a cone to do henna on her family. She asked if I sold the cones, I said yes, they were $7. (filled to the brim, enough for all your friends and family as you well know.) She cringed and left. Came back later and wanted again to know if I sold cones, did I have any here..... etc. Asked how much the cones were, $1 empty. I can bring some tomorrow or do a mail order thing. She told me flat out I would gouge her if she ordered through my site, no way would she do that! Then wanted to know how much henna came in the cone. None, they are $1 empty. This was the wrong answer. She wanted them filled for a buck! And made it clear I was trying to rip her off. She grabbed a cone and did a little fish scale pattern on her hand. Showed me and told me 'see how good I am, you can give me a job." At this point I was so frustrated with her and just wanted her to leave me alone. I laughed and smiled and put my head down and went back to work. She eventually left, without a $1 cone! I don't know what it is.... but don't sell your cones for a buck. How long does it take you to roll a cone, to sift, weigh out, measure and mix your paste, Fill your cones, seal them up and deliver them? A buck! na-a. Jessica : I just had an Indian gorcery store call me up and the owner wants me : to sell henna cones to the store on a semi-regular basis. The thing : is that she only wants to pay $1 each. When I tried to explain that : I use higher quality/ higher priced henna powder, she accused me of : bullshitting her. She said, If I can do it at that price to call : her, if not, don't call. I don't think I'm going to call, but am I : cutting off my nose here? : : Erika
