Brides from hell ...Posted by Jewel on August 26, 2003 at 04:03:52: In reply to: venting about frustrating clients....long and tangentially henna posted by Natasha on August 25, 2003 at 23:55:21: I'm sorry you had to go through this, Natasha (long time no see, BTW,How are you?? :)). In my henna work, I mostly do bridal (I actually prefer it than fairs and such). Although 90% of the brides I've been in contact with have been really nice, accomodating and friendly, there were some brides from hell too. I'd accomodate time/date change ONLY if the inconvenience to me is minimal and I don't have another appointment at that particular time/date. I'd stand firm with my decision and let them know that I have other appointments to attend to. I'd recommend another henna artist to them (I actually have a little henna artist clique .. hehehe ... and YES, the Fabulous Lezard is part of it! How cool is that??) and most of them have no problems with the substitution. Of course I'd let slip that the other henna artists do fantastic work and that they are lucky to have them do henna for them :). I think you should follow your heart in this. She doesn't honour her word and changed her plans with absolutely no regard to your convenience (maybe these bridezillas think that we did nothing all day but just sit around to attend to all their whims??). Alot of brides seem surprised when I told them I have a day job! I know that brides go through a considerable amount of stress before their wedding day and I'm sure that you want her to have a happy wedding. But you need to think of the yourself too. Maybe you can try again to recommend another artist (show pictures of their work, etc) and see what she says. Hopefully she'd be more acceptable. I realised that if I'm not happy doing henna, then I shouldn't do it at all (even though the $$ is good). So you should do something that makes you happy. If you decide to take the bridal job over the other gig and feel miserable about it, your unhappiness will show through your work (at least it does for me!). In any case, I hope everything will turn out well for everyone! Sorry about the $$ problems, I could only offer a *hug* and a prayer. Please take care! Love & peace, ~Jewel~
