Thanks for the compliments...Though I'm at the bottom rung of the
ladder when it comes to doing henna on drums;~) You should ask
other artists for links to their drum pics. Normally, you should
use henna without oil for a drum, so it doesn't stretch the skin.
It has to be a real skin head. I've done a couple of synthetic
drums and they do stain, but very faintly...more like a watermark.
I use oil in my paste for tambourines, because I use cheap
tambourines that I'm not too worried about. Most of the time, I
just do the designs free-hand, but you can also draw lightly with a
pencil first to get your design. Leave the paste on for about a
week. I leave mine in the garage so that is stays warm and
moist...it's very humid here in Florida.

Practice with a cheap tambourine (or a paper plate) before doing
your nice djembe. You can get them on ebay for a good price.
