Is it likely with a
: little time and work I can pull in about $100 a week year-round?

On average, yes. Averaging takes the $500 in summer and smooths it
out over a month of nothing in winter. But it's not going to be a
$100 *profit*. You'll still need to take into account child care,
travel expenses, event fees, and materials.
It's taken me some five years for people to start calling me, too, so
that's definitely a factor.
You can supplement the money you make applying henna with moneys from
teaching about it. This can range from classes for the teen program
at your local library where you sketch five minutes of history and
design theory then supervise as they draw on each other, to a full-
blown how to be a henna artist class either freelance or at an Adult
Education center. I charge what is probably a very small fee for
nonprofits and I'm starting to get inquiries for this year's programs
as the ones I've done talk to each other.
If all you need is $100 a week, that's certainly within reach, but it
will take some work to get to that point. I'd say work toward it and
by this time next year you should know more if it will work for you.
