Is it likely with a: little time and work I can pull in about $100 a week year-round? Depends on where you are and how much of a pit bull you are. I don't recommend that anyone try to earn a living as an artist if: 1) If you love art. (earning a living in art because you love art is like going into sex work because you like having sex. Its a JOB. No matter what job you have, its a JOB. If its your JOB it falls into a whole other world ... something you do for money, and its NOT fun anymore.) 2) If you need steady money. Self employment is right up there with shooting craps for a steady income. 3) If you do not have a chrome-plated steel ego that's tied up in your art. If you work for yourself, you'll have to swim through gut-shots to your ego every day. 4) If you don't have someone else providing health care. Self-employment health care is from hell. If you're sick and without health care in the US .. you're hosed. 5) If you don't thrive on taking risks. Most people DO NOT enjoy risks and uncertaintly. Risks and choices make most people crazy, and run their blood pressure sky high. 6) That being said .... yes you can ... but you have to be one hell of a survivor, lucky, intelligent, ferocious, and willing to make something you love into a JOB that you do as mechanically as washing dishes. Then there's A) What is your geography? How many people with disposable income are there within a 2 hour drive of your house? 4 hours? How reliable is your car and what child care do you have to get if you're out?
