I think it’s important to remember that henna and in fact any form of
body ornamentation is part of a contemporary culture as well as
historical record. Any design has the potential to transform the way
the client wears their body and any design can make a person feel
empowered and special if they want it to.

I suspect that many traditional patterns were worn because people
thought they were cool, humans never do anything for one reason
alone. It’s great to be protected from Jinn but it’s also good to get
pampered, socialise and feel glamorous or ‘cool’.

Cool changes from time to time and that does not in any way de-
value ‘cool’ or make it somehow less meaningful as a style. Helping a
person to feel cool about themselves is a fine thing to do whatever
the style of choice may be.

And yes I am biased :-)
