But did you ever go through a 'henna is dumb' time? posted by maxx on October 22, 2003 at 22:45:57: I get that feeling at the end of the season, feeling very burnt outand almost hating henna. I think the commodification of henna (through fairs and appointments and parties) starts to annoy me, though on my good days, which are a majority, I feel really blessed to be able to do this thing I love AND get paid for it. Also on good days I am tickled pink that people are impressed with henna; if they only knew that it's not as hard as it looks they might be upset with me for charging $$ for it! I had two gigs last Saturday and that was kind of the last hurrah for the season, and I am feeling really happy and free to not be doing 2-3 gigs a week. I am still hennaing myself and drawing and researching, but I am not ruled by clients, which is a nice break. I need this break over the winter to recoup my energies for the summer. What do you all in Florida and elsewhere do without a built-in temperature-determined break in your season?
