The way I figure it its this. Each time I am going to a festival there are three parts going on. 1. I keep my part of the agreement by paying my fee, showing up on time, staying until the end, and having my product/s ready to sell as described. 2. The organizer/promoter keeps their part of the bargain by laying out an event with good flow, quality vendors, food & music, & by properly advertising the event to bring in the buying public. 3. THE GAMBLE - The gamble every vendor takes is: have they evaluated the event correctly (will there really be 15 - 20 thousand people there),(will the crowd be of the right demographic for their product), (will the people actually be spending the money in their pockets), (will the cost of the event: booth, travel, lodging, help; be offset by income), and FINALLY (if outdoors, will the weather cooperate) In the beginning, ask organizers for references from other vendors, talk to vendors at events to find out what venues to avoid, look for event listing publications, online and in print, to help you plan your event year. You will make some errors, but learn from them and share the info with others. Also, don't be afraid to tell organizers when thing go wrong, and ALWAYS let themknow when thing are GOOD. They can't fix problems they don't know about, but they also really need kudos when they deserve them!! Sue
