here in DC there's the Christmas Revels. Each year there's a
theme, and this year's was the Roma, aka, gypsies. it told the story
of the Roma, where they came from, and who they were. there was
indeed indian dance (the roma began as the Rom in india), but no
belly dance. the journey was traced to present-day eastern europe,
too. it was great. i'm glad to see someone else feels the same
spirit!! but the revels here aren't attached to a school- they're a
huge production at a huge theatre/auditorium, lasting a month or so,
involving dozens of actors. and speaking of mummers... ever heard
of Loreena McKennit? peace!
