Of course you did promise to "make it up to them" but you know what? They had your services for FREE. You were doing them a HUGE FAVOR. And you owe them NOTHING - except grace and some undeserved smiles as you extricate yourself from a promise made under duress. Damn, girl, you got some patience! If it were me I'd be drafting a letter of complaint to their Scoutmaster or whoever is above all the leaders complaining about the rudeness of those women. The girls are girls, they should be taught better manners but there is no excuse for grownups to act like they did. Of course it's not fair that some girls got henna and others didn't but you know what? It's even LESS fair that they treated a volunteer, who's subjecting herself to stress and insanity out of sheer human kindess, the way they treated you. Not to mention the kinds of leadership messages they're teaching their kids by acting like this. You can take my advice with a chunk of salt as I am admittedly not known as the most diplomatic henna artist out there, but professionalism is one thing and victimhood another. At the very most you won't ever get any gigs from them - too bad, their loss! You certainly don't sound like you want to work with them ever again. Hope you were able to recover and that the rant helped. Now go eat some chocolate! peace Anne
