Brown hair dye WITHOUT PPD?

I got a call from a client asking if she can add non-PPD brown hairdye to her henna to make it last longer.
Is there brown hair dye that doesn't contain PPD? I always thought
that it did contain PPD and that the stuff that doesn't won't really
dye the skin very well.
Also, does hair dye really help the stain last longer anyway? I
thought it only made it darker.
My first inclination is to warn her against it but I would like some
background. Any input from all you hair dye experts out there?
