I know my Mom is afraid to let her henna show at work because the kids will think that if it's OK for her it's OK for them, then they will be asking their parents for body art & the parents will complain. (She's a teacher.) I guess parents think that henna is the gateway body art, like pot is the gateway drug.

Isn't it bizaar (and arbitrary) what people find threatening?? It's OK to poke a hole in the kid's ear at birth and stick jewelry in it (or to cut off the foreskin for the sake of asthetics, for that matter), but henna - God forbid.
