: Well, I'm finally recovering from a wonderful week at Sirius Rising. The company was superb (Catherine, Natasha, Shannon, Jeremy, Fiona, Alex, and Boyun) And your own good self, of course and not forgetting Roy too - thanks so much for the tent! BTW, it's Boyan. :-) , the henna flowed (so nice to watch other people apply it, gave me some great ideas), the food was fabulous (absolutely fabulous, especially Boyun's clams and Fiona's gyozas and Catherine's bread), and it was just an enormously great time in general. Wasn't it just! Roll on next year. : Things I learned: 1. Latex contracts when it dries. It gives better color when wrapped in plastic. It is WAY too fun to pick the latex off. *Powdering* latex after it dries makes it much easier to deal with. Failing to cover both latex'd hands with plastic can lead to unfortunate amounts of sticking between the two hands overnight. It would be interesting to know if the powder would have prevented this particular problem. : 3. Don't pick at the new skin! I actually pulled off some of my design along with the new skin. Remove with cocoa butter or more new skin. This is a good point. Also, if you choose not to put NewSkin under the latex layer, be sure your henna is really dry beforehand. We ran out of NewSkin at one point and the latex just took the henna off the skin as it was applied. : 4. Don't henna during the late afternoon at Sirius Rising, unless it is your hand. If you henna your feet, you can't go in the hot tub until you remove the henna! :-( :-( :-( Very true. Unless, that is, you're figuring on getting a fresh design done each day, and soaking it off each evening. :-) : 5. Everybody should go next year. It was amazing fun! I'd wholeheartedly second that! : Zimra, hoping everyone makes it home safely! Well, Fiona and I are home after a week touring Toronto and Montreal, and buying loads of most excellently priced CDs. Just listening to Natasha Atlas now.... Cheers, Jeremy
