Henna on different body parts????

I've been working with Henna for about a year and am curious about
something. Does it just not work well on most people in locations
besides hands & feet? I'm able to get very good results on the hands
& feet but whenever I do a design in another part of the body (back,
arm, chest) - the design is barely noticeable, unless the person has
very fair skin. Even when I wrap & use lemon sugar mix on fresh Henna
the designs just don't turn out well. Any advise is appreciated.
