Where dark people have pale skin, that is the best place for henna.
(Palms and soles) Pale people have the same difference in cells but
its not as easy to see the dividing line.

It is a different kind of skin on those areas.....and the henna uptake
looks very different there under a microscope. The skin cells are
deader there, and more absorbant. They take henna very evenly,
throughout the entire cell.

On the rest of the skin (where everyone has more or less pigmentation)
the cells look different under the microscope. The spot in the center
(nucleus?) does not take henna at all, so their is a pale spot in the
center of each cell, and the rest of the cell doesn't take henna all
that well either. The thicker the dead layer on your skin, the better
the henna uptake. When skin is very new, very oily, or very
glossy...henna is no great shakes. It doesn't have much to hang onto.

Granted, with good henna and good heat and good technique, you can get
a cigar wrapper color with henna most anywhere on skin....but even
that will not last as long on as henna on hands.
