Yes you can use only lemon juice

Other things will tweak the color, effect the texture or smell, slow
the drying time but lemon juice is all you need to get good dye
release. It is fun to play with what is around you in the kitchen
but you really don't need exotic ingredients to make a good paste if
you have decent henna. With all the extra time you can think up more
extravagent patterns. Happy hennaing.

elaborate recipes of mysterious liquids because my new henna stains
