hennaed fingernails

I love wearing red shades of nail polish, but I hate having to polish
my nails every few days. I am thinking of hennaing my finger nails.
I would like to see some pictures, though, I've only seen them from a
distance, not close enough to really inspect. Can anyone answer some
questions or send some pictures? What color does the henna turn, is
it a deep shade, or orange? does it fade, etc? Is the color splotchy?
Can you apply polish over it?
