You know, I tried using paste I'd made within 12 hours and got a very
faint stain...I had tried using white glue as a sealant and thought
that was the reason nothing happened, because the paste (when applied
a few days later with just a lemon-sugar coating) seems to be fine.
But maybe it just hadn't aged enough. I usually make my paste in
stages over a few days, so by the time it makes it into the cone, it's
already a few days old...

Anyway, tamarind...I've tried it and can't say it made any difference
to me...but if you want some, just email me and let me know what kind
(the fruit or the paste) and I'll make a trip to the India Bazaar this
week...
