Brass bowl versus ceramic bowl for mixing

Someone signed my mehndi Q&A book and mentioned mixing in a brass bowl rather then a glass or ceramic bowl. Has anyone else chose this method to mix their henna paste?
Does it make a difference in the paste?
I've tried it only once and it seemed like the paste was oxydizing (spell) faster. It sure cleaned my bowl out nicely too, but I had no regular paste mixed to do a side by side test. I have heard about it before and even read it somewhere that brass is better for the mixing of the paste.
But what makes it better? And has anyone else any informative info on this?
