Easy designs are too easy, hard designs are too hard

Lately I've been having a problem. All the types of designs I've been
doing are becoming too easy for me, I don't feel challenged and the
result is the mehndi looks bad because I'm not really paying
attention. But when I try to do complicated designs, they are just
too hard and I end up messing them up because they are just too
difficult for my ablity at this time. And I can't find any that are
in the middle, I wouldn't even know how to tell if they were too easy
or too hard for me. I really don't know what to do. Does this happen
to anyone else?
