No, I don't think the henna is mixed with glue, even on the Moroccan drums it eventually wears off. However, when the henna is mixed with tea, they put a lot of sugar in the mix and it makes the henna dry sort of like candy.

By the way - perhap a heating pad is better than an iron! Best yet, is to turn the oven on low, say 250, and put the drum near (NOT IN!) the heat.
