Backing up the "NO" with appropriate body language (stand stiffly up, look them right in the eye with a non-humorless expression) goes a long way, too. It also helps if you dress a little mannishly (jeans and a big flannel shirt work great.) Or practice trying to make a withering, baleful expression. (The type that Moms make when their kids come home at 2am with news that they wrecked the new car.) The right expression will stop most people in their tracks.
