Prices for henna are all over the place, and don't necessarily reflect
the quality of the henna.

Some henna that I've bought at that price has had a wonderful stain,
but needed endless sifting, other stuff was awful, a third had pretty
decent color and texture. You won't know till you try.

Some very expensive henna I've bought wasn't all that great.

At the point of origin, (India, Morocco, Sudan, Egypt, Iran) henna is
really inexpensive! Getting it here quickly enough for it to still be
perfectly fresh and still staining at peak is the biggest problem.
I'm sure the air freight costs much more than the henna.

Shopkeepers want to sell all the henna in the shop, no matter how long
it's been hanging around. Their profits depend on that. If they knew
that, like fresh fruit, henna looses quality as it sits, they might
regrigerate it, or do something to keep it fresher. I don't think
they know anything about that.

Try things. See what suits your needs. When you find a reliable
supplier with great henna at a reasonable price, hang onto them!
