Okay so Frankie and I are visiting Los Angeles (where I'm from) and we
took the token walk down Venice Boardwalk the other day. Can I tell
you there were about 10 henna vendors, all promoting and selling BLACK
HENNA to the unsuspecting visitors? UGH i was totally pissed! I
stopped and talked to one....he told me that 1 in 100 has a reaction
to the black henna, and of course that he is ALLERGIC to the natural
brown henna. WHATEVER. i would be suprised if this guy had any idea
how to make a regular batch of natural henna. phooey.
anyhoo, it was depressing. their setups, the unsuspecting customers,
and they were really shady. $5-$15 to have a latin american guy do a
henna design on me, what's fun about that? most of the designs we saw
were totally sub par.....i have henna on my hands and some guy asked
me if i got a henna kit for Xmas...UT UH!!!!!

oh well, what can i say...i have to say the worst things i have seen
in festivals were nothing compared to the venice beach scare. seems
that their most popular designs were tribal and chinese
calligraphy...nothing that was traditional (which i guess is ok) but
the other thing that was interesting was their displays...NOTHING
SPECIAL.

this is a warning to all those people who thought or are thinking
about having a black henna done at venice beach. the henna artists
(if you can call them that) don't give a SHAT about whether or not you
have a reaction, period.......they just care about the money.

i've 1/2 a mind to make a bunch of posters and put them up along the
boardwalk down there w/pics of PPD burns, grr.

okay enough ranting!
miss you guys...
