I've had my henna plants for almost a year and they are bug magnets! Not white fly, but black aphid looking critters with little black fly parents. It's a constant battle. In fact, they got badly infested while we were away during the X-Mas break and I took drastic measures yesterday -- cut off all the upper branches (with the clusters of new bugs) and washed them thoroughly with a soap solution (one qt water with a few drops of peppermint Dr. Bronner's). And I have some Safer's insecticidal soap solution for when the bugs return...and unfortunately, I know they will... The plants, however, seem pretty oblivious -- green, perky, growing (less rapidly now than in the summer). They like full sunlight, moderately moist soil and warm temperatures. When it was hot last summer (average day temps around 110F and night temps around 80F -- this is Texas), I could practically see them grow. I just wish I could eliminate the evil bugs once and for all. And they only attack the henna...haven't seen them on any of my other plants. Good luck with Lamu!
