Staining wood with Henna!

Many of you seem very knowledgeable, so I was wondering
if any of you have stained raw wood with henna before. I have several times, but each time it doesn't turn brown, it just remains the henna-green color. I'm getting quite a few orders for frames and jewelry boxes and I'd love to have them turn out like I've seen them (dark brown).

If there's a separate recipe I should be using, or if anyone knows any other tips on how I can create better unique little peices of art, I would very much appreciate it.
