I tried steaming my hand yesterday, after unwrapping the overnight henna ..... on the notion that when you steam silk, the dyes are much more intense and fast, so maybe it would work with henna and skin, and we know heat is wonderfully helpful for henna in any case....
I put on my whistling tea kettle, and waited for a plume of steam, and just held my unwrapped, but not scraped, hennaed hand in the steam for 15 minutes (while the espresso machine was bringing forth the water of life). I can't say for certain that the color was improved, because I couldn't think of a way to do a comparison test.... BUT...... today I have one of the most intense fabboooooo burgundy hennaes I've ever seen! (yes, I took pix, but I didn't finish the roll , so give me a week, and then I can send you a jpg)

Not only did the hot steam seem to really bring up the color , but the steam loosened up the New Skin so much that I was able to wipe ALL the henna AND NS off with just a butter knife and a washrag!!!!! Huuurrraaahhhh! Eueulations! Transcendent Joy! Only a few shreds of NS remained to be rubbed off with oil.

I'm putting this into my aftercare rant.... the steam REALLY helped get the NS off, improved the color .... and totally wiped out the arthritis in that hand for 24 hours. How can you lose? Costs nothing.... absolutely safe (as long as you have good sense about how close you get your hand to the steam) and does nothing but GOOD.
