I decided to try the garlic in lemon-sugar on Saturday. Unfortunately, I'm not sure that my version is 100% accurate, because I ran out of lemon juice and had to use lime juice instead.

So I used the proportions that Kenzi mentioned, 2 cloves of hand crushed garlic, 2 teaspoons black pepper, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and 1/2 cup lime juice. As a control, I mixed up a 1/2 and 1/2 lime juice and sugar mix.

I did my foot, applied the garlic mix to 1/2 the design, and the sugar-mix to the other half. I blew it dry, paper taped it, and then wrapped it up.

It's been 24 hours since I unwrapped it, and both sides look about the same. BTW, I do love the smell of garlic, but the mixture of garlic and lime juice smells absolutely disgusting. I kept wrinkling my nose while I was applying it. (Winston the rabbit also disapproves of the smell. He wanted to sniff my fingers after I crushed the garlic, and he did his usual bit of wanting to sniff my henna; but once I started applying the lime-garlic stuff, he ran out of the room.)
