I haven't heard of it being used in henna paste for skin painting, though. I don't know whether or not it is OK to use indigo dye on skin (indigo is stronger/more intense than woad).

Woad IS used for skin painting-- it is an old Celtic tradition. As it is presently used, it is mixed with lard or something similar to make a very temporary body paint, which easily washes off & doesn't last very long. I have never heard of mixing it with henna, though.
