Here is a Follow-up to my first Follow-up.

I said that I did not know whether or not indigo was used for body painting. Well, no sooner did I sign off, then I read the new posting in which Morocco (Carolina Dinicu) said that the Guedra dancers use black henna or indigo for making their palm & sole designs. So indigo IS usable for body-staining in the same manner as henna... although whether it is ever combined with henna in a paste for this purpose, I still don't know!

The designs on the Guedra dancers (in AFRICA ADORNED) look quite dark. So do the woad designs on Cav's page (links to Woad Page), so I don't know whether or not it is possible to obtain a lighter & brighter blue using indigotin.
