Allergy?Posted by Linda in NJ on July 26, 2000 at 11:55:41: Recently I henna-ed the top of my foot with a recipe that included clove oil (usual for me) no problems. Before I took a shower the next day I put some clove oil over the design, which has never caused me problems before. Well this time after about five minutes in a hot shower my foot started to hurt! At first I thought the water was too hot so I lowered the temp.--nope still hurt and felt like burning. Got out of the shower dried off, still hurt. If you've ever gotten that stinging feeling when water is too hot-that's what it felt like. This lasted for several hours, and eventually went away. No sores, blisters, hives etc. just pain. Since then I haven't used clove oil directly on my skin before a shower and no problems. Is this the wierdest allergy or what? When I henna other folks I don't put clove oil on their skin after I remove the paste because I'm concerned about this wierd occurrence happening to them. Any ideas about what this is? This was a henna done with all natural henna powder, lemon juice, black tea and clove oil. Thanks
