The most elegant solution to making henna "work" with new-ish wedding
gowns is to henna the top 2 joints of your fingertips in teeny-tiny
fillagree, and do the nails nicely. That looks better with sleeveless
gowns. The fade-down on fingertips is nicer than palms, too. Just
push for detail to and beyond Navneet's finest, and make it a real
work of miniature art! (just fingertips isn't all that
time-consuming, either)

Gwyn's gown is a thing with a silk satin corset (strapless, Victorian,
covered with embroidered lace and pearls) and a skirt with a silk
chiffon train embroidered with lace and pearls. When there are no
sleeves, the break between hennaed hands and bare shoulders can be a
little harsh.

The fingertip henna styles were very in vogue in 13th century Syria.

The only problem with only having fingertips done is that it might not
completely cleanse you of pollution or sufficiently deter the
bride-stealing djinn ...
