From many experiences at festivals and fairs I know that the majority of people want henna on anything and everything BUT their hands, despite efforts to explain to them that the stain doesn't come out well. The other aspect of festivals and fairs, is getting the aftercare information to the client. I ask hennaed clients to stick around for 10-15 minutes (or come back in 10-15 mins) so I can lemon-sugar them. I insist on this and explain that this is needed for them to get a good stain and to hold the paste in place. About 80% of them stick around or come back for lemon-sugar. This year I am going to try what some people have suggested here and give people a little ziploc bag with a lemon-sugar soaked cotton ball in it and staple my aftercare sheet to it. Lemon-sugar is super-simple and doesn't need to be a messy affair or time consuming. Mix it up at home, put it in a spray bottle, ask your client to sit around for 10 minutes (remind them that they are doing this for a good stain and that good things come to those who wait), give them a squirt of lemon-sugar; hand them a baggie wth a cotton ball soaked in lemon-sugar and send them away. The henna doens't have to dry that much, it just needs to turn a little matte and you can spray it. IT IS SIMPLE and it works. Aftercare done by you AND the client are essential to a good stain. You can do your part by giving them a swabbing with lemon-sugar and handing them an aftercare sheet (instructions) but the rest is up to them. I impress upon them that a good stain is within their control; I tell them that if they follow the instructions they can get a good stain and that they will be rewarded for their patience. Let us know if you need ideas for putting together an aftercare sheet to give to clients. I have one I can post to give you ideas and I have seen other people's sheets and I think you
