My henna isn't dark enough

I have been using henna for a few months now and I can't get the
stuff to stain dark and stay on my skin for more than a week. I have
the Shelly brand. I have left it on as much as 3 hours and I still
can't get anything except a nasty looking LIGHT brown color. PLEASE
HELP!
