One of the reasons that I'm a pain in the patushka in here is
beacause I HATE MY JOB. I'm a creative spirit stuck in a management
job.. I've been racking my brain trying to find a way to wean myself
down from the managers pedestal and become a peon cake decorater once
again (I can't leave the benefits are just too darn good) I read ever
message in here, read the rant on mehndi as a business routinely, and
yada yada yada. You don't need to hear me rant. Anyway. I used to
have a job, working for a small small business making paper jewelry.
I loved that job! When I was the only person making the jewelry for
the business, I would smuggle some home so I could make more. (i'm a
craft addict, ok) That business did enough to support the
husband/wife owners, and me, Full time, and seasonally, 3-5 part
timers. Unfortunatly, they went out of business due to some poor
business choices.(not related to me, I just made whatthey told me
to) I know the perils. To start the jewelry again would limit my
time to do henna. To do the henna, I feel I need something else to
sell, if nothing else, than to draw (no pun intended) people in. The
jewelry I made was made from gift wrap, folded into all sorts of
shapes, then water sealed, and finished. So to combine them all
together, what do you all think of henna-paper jewely? I could use
my leftover henna, do designs on paper, then use that as my base for
the jewelry. I can make earrings in 10 shapes, 3 sizes each. I made
pins in 15 shapes, 2 sizes each. I did barettes, most 3 size
rectangles, but I'd like to experiment. My question for you is.. What
do you think. Am I having a hare-brained ides, or does this sound
interesting? I was thinking that I could even make the pieces with
other papers, but have it gounded in earthy tones, paisleys, etc.
Please, tell me what you think. I need some sage words of wisdom
before I start another project.
