henna on dyed hair question

Hi all,
i went to the link posted by catherine ("down the rabbit hole",great
info) and it says there you should not use henna on previously
(chemically dyed) hair. Is there a time limit on this, or am i
doomed forever? i have med. brown hair, and started getting grey at
27 (ack!). Let it go for a while, then last year, started getting it
colored brown, getting root touchups. i have never like the idea of
dyeing it ... the reason i let it go for 4 or 5 years, til the grey
bothered me too much.

it's long ... i don't want to cut it ... but i'd love to stop with
this chemical stuff ... any help would be so much appreciated.
