It's the temperature ... the hot water zapped it up fast.

Some tap water here is lethal to henna .... some is OK. Rainwater
from a thunderstorm is excellent, in a hot room, or heated.

At identical temperatures, lemon juice will realease dye about 4x more
efficiently than water.
